Mana Eco Hotel | A sustainable yoga retreat in Lombok
Rooms | Boho flair dream
From spacious cabanas – each with a private garden – to a uniquely designed villa with a spacious private garden and pool. While all of them are gorgeous and decorated with love, the different rooms at Mana Eco Resort vary a lot so they can welcome all kinds of guests – from solo travelers to families and luxury lovers. There’s even a luxurious community dorm to meet everyone’s budget.
Yet, with a total of ten cabanas, six garden rooms, four deluxe bungalows, the community dorm for ten people and the private villa, the whole area at Mana Eco Retreat stays calm and laid-back. This creates a family-like atmosphere.
The rooms are modern and bright with natural colors and wooden highlights giving a minimalistic and clean, yet super cozy vibe.
A true highlight is the outdoor bathroom you can find in each room. While under the tropical shower, treating your hair and body with Mana’s wonderfully-scented natural shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, you can listen to the exotic birds chirping. A bliss each morning.
Also, all rooms have their own terrace that opens to the tropical garden and the cabanas and bungalows even have pool views from their private garden.

Accommodation at Mana Eco Hotel
Facilities | A gorgeous oasis
The sustainable concept of the eco yoga retreat center runs through the whole resort.
There are lush tropical gardens full of palm trees and exotic flower bushes surrounding the different cabanas and bungalows. Those plants embrace the site like an oasis and meander through the garden, encircling a little cottage or hammock here and there. In that way, they create several beautiful havens where you can relax, read or meditate, and listen to the sounds of nature.
Two pools allow you to cool down from the Indonesian heat after an intense yoga session or anytime throughout the day.
In the reception, there’s a small sustainable shop with items such as natural mosquito repellent, reusable straws, and tote bags.
You can easily spend your entire stay at Mana Yoga Retreat in Lombok barefoot, as everything is kept perfectly clean all the time. The rooms, café, pool and gardens, spa, and yoga shalas are always sparkling.

Mana’s oasis for your yoga retreat in Lombok
Café | Munching through heaven on your yoga retreat in Lombok
The café and restaurant at Mana Eco Retreat is as amazing as their facilities. Everything is vegan or vegetarian and freshly prepared, with many ingredients locally sourced. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a small but perfect choice of local and international plates. Not only are the dishes subtle and artfully crafted but also served and plated with love.
Also, the homemade bread is baked fresh every day, spreading a wonderful scent across the cafe area.
Do your eyes lighten up when you read “all day breakfast”? Anytime throughout the day, you can order delicacies such as the delicious Caramelized Banana Porridge, a choice of Smoothie Bowls, or Scramble (tofu or eggs) on toast.
For dinner, you should try the vegan Laksa – a Southeast Asian soup dish I also love to eat in Malaysia – and the Nori Tofu Poke Bowl. But if you’re a lover of local dishes (as I am), there’s also Nasi Campur– a combination of the best of vegan Indonesian food with jackfruit curry and tempe.
But you can also get snacks like Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls or refresh yourself with homemade kombucha or a coconut in between.
I really loved that there are no plastic water bottles or straws to serve the food more sustainably. Besides, you won’t find anything prepared with palm oil.
The whole staff working in the café is local and always up for a chat. Large smiles everywhere.

Food during your yoga retreat in Lombok
Yoga | High-quality classes & yoga retreats in Lombok
It is the perfect haven to dive into the calmness and serenity of a wonderful yoga retreat. There are two yoga shalas where different teachers – both internationals and locals – lead you through various yoga classes in the mornings and late afternoons. From Yin Yoga to Ashtanga, from Pranayama to Surf Yoga – there’s something for everyone.
At Mana, you can create your own yoga retreat in Lombok, just the way it feels right for you.
Whether you want to get the full package self-retreat with yoga classes and spa treatments every day, or prefer just booking a gorgeous room and popping into different yoga classes as you like – you’ve got the choice.
Besides, you also have the option, to book a private session to dig deeper and enhance your practice.
Several times a year there are also closed yoga retreats for a set amount of days in a closed group with a special focus.
All equipment, such as mats, bolsters and yoga blocks are provided, so you don’t have to worry about huge luggage.

Events & activities | From cacao ceremonies to community workshops
Although you could easily spend weeks at Mana Eco Retreat, focusing on slow living, recharging and doing nothing but yoga, eating well and relaxing by the pool, they offer some lovely activities as well.
Being a center for yoga retreats in Lombok, they regularly organize special yoga events and workshops at Mana. You can experience the power of mother nature in a Cacao Ceremony, let go in an Ecstatic Dance session, or take a deep inner journey during a meditation workshop.
Once a week, the large yoga shala becomes a cinema with bean bags where you can sit back and watch a movie. They even serve food and drinks from the restaurant in the cinema room, so you can relax while munching vegan treats. The movie nights are free for guests staying at Mana Eco Retreat.
If you are at Mana during a closed retreat, you may be lucky to take part in a coconut milk & sambal making workshop, diving into the traditional Sasak culture with local women at ninenine.

Spa | Get pampered during your yoga retreat in Lombok
Amidst the lush greenery, yoga shalas and nourishing café, a small spa completes the Mana experience.
In a wooden cabana in the back of the tropical garden, you can indulge yourself with different massages and spa treatments. From massages and facial treatments to scrubs and aloe or clay wraps.
With traditional Asian techniques and high-quality, natural ingredients, you can make your skin glow, your hair shine and your muscles rewarded.
Mana Spa offers massages for surfers, Thai massage, volcanic stone massage and much more. There are couples massages, too.

Sustainability | Yoga retreat in Lombok with a reduced environmental impact
Sustainability is deeply rooted in Mana’s philosophy. They try to reduce their environmental impact through numerous measures – way beyond avoiding plastic.
Fresh water is a scarce resource on islands, so they have developed their own water recycling system for Mana Eco Retreat in Lombok. All the septic water from showers, laundry, and the kitchen is filtered and recycled into clean irrigation water.
The green energy comes from one hundred solar panels Mana had installed.
In the rooms, there are no plastic-packed mini shampoos but large dispensers that are filled up regularly. Besides, instead of plastic water bottles, you can get free filtered drinking water. Drinks are served with stainless steel straws and in reusable cups only.
What is more, Mana supports Keep Kuta Clean and has sponsored rubbish bins in town. If you want to support the anti-waste movement, Mana organizes monthly beach clean-ups you can join.
Organic products can be found throughout the area. The heavenly-scented natural soaps and mosquito repellent (yes, even that smells super nice) are not only organic but also locally made. You can also buy them in the small sustainable store in the reception.
Also, the yoga mats are made from the natural biodegradable material TPE.
As mentioned earlier, the restaurant and café at Mana is all vegetarian, as meat production is one of the worst accelerators of climate change. Most dishes are even completely plant-based with locally sourced ingredients.
Because palm oil is responsible for massive rainforest destruction in Indonesia and Malaysia, the kitchen avoids it completely. Instead, they use healthy coconut oil that is made by locals in Lombok.
Also, the entire staff is local, so Mana has created numerous employment opportunities for locals.

Day trips | Explore Lombok’s south
Kuta is a great place to stay for your yoga retreat in Lombok, because there is so much to see and do close by.
Lombok’s south is a paradise for surfers with countless paradisiacal beaches around.
Besides, there are several sunset spots such as Bukit Merese. Sade Village – a local Sasak village built of traditional bamboo houses is also just a 20-minute scooter ride from Kuta. This is a wonderful visit where you can learn more about Lombok’s traditions.

Good to know | For your Yoga Retreat in Lombok
Where is Mana Eco Retreat?
Mana is located in a quiet corner of Kuta, the main town in southern Lombok. This location is not only the perfect place to join a yoga retreat in Indonesia. Kuta is a popular surfers town, full of amazing cafés and restaurants, and close to many beaches. Don’t confuse it with (the much uglier) Kuta in Bali, though. Lombok’s Kuta is much more laid-back and enjoyable.
Where can I book the yoga retreat in Lombok?
You can book this Eco Hotel in Lombok through many common booking platforms, such as booking.com.
What else to explore during my yoga retreat in Lombok?
Many travelers miss Lombok’s amazing north. I’d say this is a huge mistake, as the north of the island is spectacular. You can find some of the world’s most breathtaking waterfalls, picturesque rice terraces (which are empty in comparison to Bali), and a majestic volcano you can hike up.
Check out my post on Indonesia for more travel tips and inspiration for the north of Lombok.
